Heart 2 Heart Bonding Matters - Women and Girls Empowerment Book Club
NAME | Deliya
GRADE | 10
LOCATION | Harker Heights, Texas
Deliya, a 10th grader from Harker Heights, Texas, is supporting girls aged 7-18 who are navigating low self-esteem, trust challenges, and feelings of isolation by building supportive, open communities that can foster important relationships. This program involves small-group discussions, bonding activities, a 7-day empowerment challenge, and more.
Deliya has personally witnessed the destructive results of young women lacking a support system, but she’s also seen the other side of the coin: the myriad positive effects that develop from girls having safe spaces to be heard and valued. Heart 2 Heart has already hosted a letter-writing event themed around gratitude, and Deliya has lots of plans for upcoming events and campaigns, like starting a podcast to spread their message and partnering with local coffee shops to host events.

We aim to address critical issues of low self-esteem, trust challenges, and feelings of isolation that often plague girls aged 7-18, particularly those navigating foster care, kinship placements, or crises within their families. These vulnerabilities can leave girls at heightened risk for dangerous behaviors and exploitation, such as running away, truancy, self-harm, or even becoming victims of human trafficking.
The urgency of this issue became clear through alarming local reports of runaway and unsheltered girls, tragic fatalities from car accidents, and increasing cases of self-harm among young girls. Additionally, the stark reality of sex trafficking underscores the importance of our mission. Children account for half of the victims of human trafficking, with the average age of involvement being just 12 years old. Predators exploit vulnerabilities, luring young people with promises of love, protection, or adventure, often using social media as a tool to connect with their victims.
Warning signs of trafficking such as running away, truancy, unexplained cell phones, or older boyfriends are disturbingly prevalent among at-risk youth. Victims frequently feel trapped due to trauma, fear, or lack of trust in authority figures, leaving them without the resources or confidence to escape. These realities demand proactive solutions to empower and protect girls before they fall into these dangerous cycles.
This issue is deeply personal to me. Having friends who are youth in crisis, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of disconnection and a lack of support. I’ve also seen the power of when safe spaces are created where girls feel valued, heard, and empowered. It’s these experiences and the stories of so many young lives interrupted or lost that inspire this initiative.
By fostering meaningful connections through programs like Heart 2 Heart Bonding Matters: Women and Girls Empowerment Book Club, we can address these vulnerabilities head-on. Through structured activities, open conversations, and empowerment-focused resources, we aim to build trust, self-esteem, and resilience in girls while equipping them with the tools to navigate life’s challenges safely and confidently.
This mission is not just about preventing harm but to create a world where every girl feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive. With your support, we can help break the cycle of vulnerability and create lasting change in our community.
Heart 2 Heart is a hybrid program (in-person and virtual) designed to strengthen the emotional, mental, and physical bonds between women and girls, ages 7-18. Inspired by personal experiences and professional work with youth in crisis, this initiative fosters safe, nurturing spaces where relationships can thrive, self-esteem can grow, and participants gain tools to face life’s challenges.
The Idea
Heart 2 Heart combines meaningful shared experiences with empowerment-focused books, hot chocolate, and pastries to encourage dialogue and connection. Using the Women to Girl: Bonding Matters book which includes a 7-day empowerment and bonding challenge. The program addresses critical issues such as low self-esteem, trust challenges, and isolation, while reducing risks like truancy and exploitation.
The Solution
Quarterly events provide opportunities for women and girls to connect through book readings, small-group discussions, bonding exercises, and creative activities. A recent gratitude-themed letter-writing and dessert-making event successfully fostered connections, while upcoming events, such as a Valentine’s Day hot chocolate gathering, continue to build on this momentum.

Why This Matters
Heart 2 Heart creates a ripple effect by fostering deeper relationships, strengthening families, and empowering communities. By breaking barriers to access and providing safe, inclusive spaces, the program equips participants to thrive emotionally and socially, addressing critical challenges in underserved populations.
With a clear vision and actionable steps, we are ready to empower women and girls, transforming relationships and communities.
Our Heart 2 Heart Bonding Matters team is a collaborative effort of dedicated individuals passionate about strengthening relationships between women and girls. My mother, along with two other women who have daughters aged 9 and 14, plays an integral role in promoting and facilitating events. They bring diverse perspectives, share their personal experiences, and actively involve their daughters in the process, demonstrating the program’s impact firsthand. Together, we create a nurturing and relatable environment for participants.
Engaging the Community:
We are committed to raising awareness and encouraging others to join our mission. The Women to Girl podcast will invite guests to share their own struggles, tips, and success stories about building stronger bonds and relationships. This platform will amplify the conversation, inspire listeners, and bring visibility to the challenges girls face when they lack support and connection.
Additionally, we will foster engagement through a private Facebook group where we share weekly encouragement, empowering messages, and strategies to strengthen relationships. By creating an active and supportive online community, we’ll reach a wider audience and inspire action.
Seven-Day Bonding Challenge:
A highlight of the program is the interactive Women to Girl Bonding Matters seven-day challenge, which provides structured, daily activities designed to build trust, improve communication, and foster mutual understanding between women and girls. This challenge will be a practical tool to strengthen connections and create lasting change in families and communities.
Creating Awareness:
Heart 2 Heart Bonding Matters is a movement to address the emotional and social needs of girls seeking connection and the women who want to empower and uplift them. Through strategic partnerships with local businesses and media outlets, engaging storytelling via the podcast, and consistent outreach on social media, we will highlight the program’s importance and invite others to be part of this impactful initiative.
With your support, we can bring this vision to life through having meaningful conversations, shared bonding activities, and a cup of hot chocolate and sweets. Together, we can create stronger families and empowered communities.
